1000, 2000 or 3000? Insulation in plain English
Amarr model numbers tell you how the door is built. More layers make a door quieter, stiffer and better at holding heat.
- 1000 series: 1 layer. A single steel skin with no insulation. The budget pick for a detached garage or shed.
- 2000 series: 2 layers. Steel with foam insulation and a vinyl back. Quieter and sturdier, and a good fit for most attached garages.
- 3000 series: 3 layers. Steel, insulation, steel: steel on the inside and outside. The warmest and most dent-resistant. Best if you have a room above the garage, a shop, or you park inside all winter.
Carriage Court is a 3-layer insulated door with overlay trim for a carriage-house look. Full-view doors (Vista, Horizon and the 3502) are aluminum and glass. They bring in light and a modern look, not insulation.
