Bear season is here. We get it done!
Colorado Parks and Wildlife says one bear has broken into at least 20 garages in Ken Caryl since late August, according to CBS Colorado. One homeowner told CBS Colorado the bear clawed a new hole in her garage door: “Once he started clawing at it, it was almost like he was just ripping a piece of paper.”
We’re Mission GDS, a veteran-owned garage door company serving Jefferson County and the South Metro. In our experience, older wood and builder-grade doors are the weak spot. Through November 15, 2026, we have two ways to get you a bear-resistant garage door.
Two Options Through 11/15/26 (Code BEAR)
Option 1: Fortify Your Current Steel Door from $400
Already have a solid steel door? Often it just needs reinforcing, not replacing. We reinforce your existing steel door to help strengthen it: $400 for a single door or $500 for a double door, installed (standard residential steel doors; oversize doors quoted).
Option 2: Up to $500 Off a New Steel Garage Door
If your door is older wood, builder-grade, dented, or has a loose panel, a new steel door may be the better move. Get up to $500 off a new steel garage door, professionally installed by our crew. CPW recommends extra-sturdy doors if you keep a fridge, freezer, pet food, or bird seed in your garage.
Financing available. Spread the cost of a new door with easy monthly payments through Wisetack: up to 120 months, with 0% interest for 3 months for qualified buyers (subject to credit approval). Choose financing when you accept your on-site estimate.
Book online anytime at missiongds.com, or call/text (970) 788-2884.
Not Sure Which One You Need?
That’s what the free estimate is for. We’ll look at your door and tell you honestly which option makes sense. No pressure.
Offer ends 11/15/26. Fortify price: $400 single, $500 double standard residential steel door, installed; oversize quoted. Up to $500 off applies to new door purchase and install; cannot be combined with other offers. No garage door can guarantee a bear stays out.
Step One Is Free: CPW’s Bear Tips for Your Garage
Before you spend a dime, do what Colorado Parks and Wildlife recommends. Bears are in hyperphagia right now, the fall period of compulsive overeating before winter, and CPW says most Colorado bears are active through early November. Once they find food near homes, they come back for more.
- Keep the garage door closed and locked, especially at night and when you’re away. Don’t leave it standing open when you’re not outside.
- Keep food and trash out of the garage. CPW told Ken Caryl residents to bring food and trash completely inside the home.
- Got a fridge, freezer, pet food, or bird seed out there? CPW recommends installing extra-sturdy doors.
- Trash goes out the morning of pickup, not the night before. CPW says leaving trash where bears can reach it violates state law.
- Don’t set your own traps. Leave trapping to wildlife officials.
- Report bear sightings to CPW. In an emergency, call 911.

Where Garage Doors Fall Short
In our experience, older wood and builder-grade doors are the weak spot, along with any door that has a dent or a loose panel. A bear that smells food in a garage will work hard to get to it, and the door is usually what’s in the way.
That’s where we come in. We’re a garage door company first. We repair, reinforce, and install doors, and we’ll give you a straight answer about whether your current door is worth fortifying or it’s time for a new steel door.
Why Mission GDS
- Veteran-owned. We show up, tell you what we see, and get it done.
- Garage door specialists. Repair, openers, and new door installation are our core work.
- Honest recommendations. If your steel door just needs reinforcing, we’ll tell you.
- Free estimates. Book online or call, and mention code BEAR.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the BEAR offer?
Through 11/15/26, use code BEAR for one of two options: fortify your current steel door for $400 single or $500 double (installed; oversize doors quoted), or get up to $500 off a new steel garage door, professionally installed.
Which option is right for my garage?
If you have a solid steel door in good shape, reinforcing it is often enough. If your door is older wood, builder-grade, dented, or has loose panels, a new steel door may make more sense. We’ll look at it during a free estimate and tell you honestly.
Can I combine the BEAR offer with other discounts?
The up to $500 off a new door applies to new door purchase and install and cannot be combined with other offers. For anything else, ask us when you book.
Will a stronger door guarantee a bear stays out?
No, and nobody can honestly promise that. A stronger door makes your garage a harder target. CPW’s free advice matters just as much: keep the door closed and locked, and keep food and trash out of the garage. See the fine print above.
Why did a bear go after garages in Ken Caryl?
Food. CBS Colorado reported that one homeowner kept a fully stocked fridge and freezer in her garage. CPW says bears are bulking up for winter right now and are learning where they can find food.
When does the offer end?
November 15, 2026.
